This all natural Ayaté cloth is made in a very labor intensive process. After the agave leaves are cut, they are cooked and pounded into fibrous strands. They are then softened under rocks for up to a week. Then, one-by-one, each fiber is scraped and washed to remove any remaining debris. The fibers are then soaked in a natural lime solution and hung to dry.
